Acupuncture can treat a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, PMS, menopausal symptoms, infertility, auto-immune conditions, prostate diseases, erectile dysfunction, and more.

Are there any side effects of acupuncture?

Side effects are rare but can include minor bruising, bleeding, or soreness at the needle sites. Most side effects are mild and temporary.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is often performed by physical therapists and chiropractors to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Acupuncturists are also trained to perform dry needling, but we prefer to use the more holistic acupuncture approach to orthopedic treatment where we treat both the muscle dysfunction as well as address the systemic root imbalance that is impeding the injury repair?"

What should I expect during an acupuncture session?

During a session, the practitioner will insert thin needles into specific points on your body. You may feel a slight pinch or tingling sensation. Sessions typically last between 30 to 60 minutes. .

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people experience minimal discomfort during acupuncture. The needles are very thin, and any sensation usually subsides quickly.

How many acupuncture sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual, the condition being treated, and how long the condition has been there. It is recommended to commit to an initial 6-session course of weekly treatments. Some people experience significant relief after one session, but lasting effects are generally maintained after a series of treatments.

What should I do before and after an acupuncture session?

Before a session, it's best to eat a light meal and avoid strenuous activity. Bring loose clothing that can be comfortably drawn up above the knees and elbows. After a session, it's recommended to rest and stay hydrated.

How do I choose a qualified acupuncturist?

Look for a licensed practitioner with proper training and credentials; a Licensed Acupuncturists (LAc) who is board certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine). A Doctor of Acupuncture (DAc) is a board certified licensed acupuncturist with 4 years of post-graduate education. Many Chiropractors and Physical Therapists perform acupuncture and dry needling, but the required number of hours of acupuncture-specific coursework and training is minimal.
