When performed by a trained and licensed practitioner, acupuncture is generally considered safe with few side effects.

What Conditions Does Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture can treat a wide range of conditions, including acute and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, PMS, menopausal symptoms, infertility, auto-immune conditions, prostate diseases, erectile dysfunction, and more.

Are There Any Side Effects Of Acupuncture?

Side effects are rare but can include minor bruising, bleeding, or soreness at the needle sites. Most side effects are mild and temporary.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a form of trigger point release. A trigger point is a ropy band of muscle tissue ("knot") that is tender when pressed and radiates pain to another area. As an Orthopedic Acupuncture Specialists, I (Dr. Dana) utilize dry needling as part of a holistic approach to treat the muscular and neurological dysfunction as well as address the systemic root imbalance that is impeding injury repair?

What Should I Expect During An Acupuncture Session?

During a session, the practitioner will insert thin needles into specific points on your body. You may feel a slight pinch or tingling sensation. Sessions typically last between 30 to 60 minutes.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Most people experience minimal discomfort during acupuncture. The needles are very thin, and any sensation usually subsides quickly. Dr. Dana always says "Acupuncture is weird, not painful."

How Many Acupuncture Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual, the condition being treated, and how long the condition has been there. It is recommended to commit to an initial 6-session course of weekly treatments. Some people experience significant relief after a couple sessions, but lasting effects are generally maintained after a series of treatments.

What Should I Do Before And After An Acupuncture Session?

Before a session, it's best to eat a light meal and avoid strenuous activity. Bring loose clothing that can be comfortably drawn up above the knees and elbows. After a session, it's recommended to rest and stay hydrated.
